Seil Scarecrow Festival 22-30 July
** ONE WEEK TO GO **
** Latest News – Opening celebration now includes hot buffet lunch**
The 2023 Seil Scarecrow Festival opens on 22 July at the Seil Community Hall at noon, and after the opening ceremony – ribbon cutting, naming of the Scarecrow, music and buffet lunch; the day continues with a Seil’s Got Talent show at 2pm, and an evening Ceilidh brought to you by Argyll Ceilidh Trail from 7.30pm.
Come and join the fun!
Finding the scarecrows will take you all over the island when you join us for a week of great activities as part of the Scarecrow Festival. There is a daily ‘pop-up’ café in Seil Community Hall, and a range of events for everyone, from a heritage walk, to rowing the Seil Skiff. Why not come and dance the night away at the Ceilidh, return to try out your knowledge at the quiz and curry night later in the week, and then join the Hill Run before coming to the produce fair and dog show? Most events are open by entry on the day, so come along and take part.
There is a fantastic Grand Raffle, with tickets available now or throughout the week from the Balvicar Post Office, or at events/the Hall during the festival week. The draw will be made on 29 July with a first prize of a 3 night holiday for up to 6 at Melfort Village and many other fantastic prizes generously donated in support of the Festival.
An enquiry desk ‘Scarecrow Central’ is open all day throughout the festival in the foyer of Seil Island Community Hall where, as well as visiting the café, you can buy raffle tickets and hear about all the events on the day or later in the week.
The Festival week comes to a climax with the Scarecrow Fair, including field games and stalls, a Scarecrow Scamper hill run, wildflower walk, BBQ, craft/produce show, dog show, tug-of-war, and auction!
Funds are being raised to support the running of the Seil Island Community Hall (registered charity SC032419). Halls are becoming increasing expensive to run as facilities for local communities, these events will offer key support. The organisers wish to thank ACHA for a grant, and the support of local businesses, which has helped fund the events and activities.
